Our Story
Clothing is a record.
Vintage isn't nostalgia. It's evidence. A tee from a conference that changed an industry. A jacket from a collab that nobody outside a certain circle even knows happened. A piece that holds a moment that can't be recreated — and shouldn't be.
Past Lives started as a simple conviction: the most interesting clothing already exists. We don't need more product. We need better curation. So we dig — through estate sales, forums, DMs, and basements — looking for pieces that still have something to say.
We're selective on purpose. Every item in the shop earned its spot. When you buy from us, you're not just picking up a garment — you're picking up a chapter of something real, and writing the next one.
The Standard
What we look for
Rarity
We go after 1-of-1 pieces, limited runs, and collab items that you won't find restocked anywhere. If you can walk into any store and buy it new, it's not for us.
Provenance
Event merch. Org collabs. Cultural artifacts. We love pieces that come with a story baked in — where it was, what it meant, who made it happen.
Quality
Condition matters. We pass on pieces that aren't worth your time, and we're honest about flaws when they exist. A well-worn tee is one thing; a thrashed one is another.
A Case in Point
The YC × Google DeepMind Tee
This is exactly the kind of piece we exist for. A collab between Y Combinator and Google DeepMind — two organizations at the center of what's happening in technology right now. The tee came from an event. It wasn't sold in stores. You couldn't order it online. It exists because you were there, or you knew someone who was.
That's provenance. That's what makes a garment worth keeping — and worth passing on.
